AS South London Football Club Volunteers 25th January 2010

We didn't now Mike well. We only knew him through his work at the League. We never asked what was wrong with Mike when he was ill and lived in blissful ignorance presuming it was something he could recover from. Even in the final few months he would still be doing his best to sort things out for the children's football teams that formed the league out of a clear commitment and desire to help others and to help children enjoy their childhoods. In hindsight if we'd known how ill he was we would never have contacted him for anything. We all feel in some ways a bit bad that he obviously put so much time and effort into his work in his last few months. But then that seems just like the sort of caring, hard working man he was. All of us at AS South London who have been supported by Mike would like to thank him for everything he has done for us and for the thousands of kids who play in the league. We also wish his family well at this hard time - for what it's worth those Christians and Muslims amongst the coaching staff at our club have all offered prayers for a lovely man who gave so much to others.
